An annual registration with learntoskateusa.com is required prior to class registration with Southern Wisconsin Skating School. LTS-USA registration is now open for the fiscal year July 1, 2017 through June 30, 2018. Once registered or renewed, you need not register with Learn to Skate USA until July 1, 2018.

About Southern Wisconsin Learn To Skate USA 
 
Jump-Start your skating with Learn To Skate USA offered by Southern Wisconsin Skating School. Learn to Skate USA is the only USA ice skating program endorsed by U.S. Figure Skating, USA Hockey, and U.S. Speedskating.   Learn to Skate USA via Southern Wisconsin Skating School offers a progressive curriculum that starts with non- skaters through advanced levels of skating, i.e. recreational, figure, hockey and speed skating -  tots through adults. Specialty classes include:  Accelerated - Introduction to Jumps and Spins - Art on the Edge and Powrskating.  Not all Speciality classes are offered each session.   Hockey 1- 4 classes focus on skating techniques specific to hockey players as well as an introduction to powerskating for hockey players.

Do you want to advance your figure skating?  

1.  Accelerated:  Eligible Skaters:  Basic 4 through Freeskate 1.  In addition to your regular group class, register at a reduced rate for the Accelerated Class.  This class will focus on edges that will increase confidence and artistic flow,.  Also included is precise turns and overall body control.  Excellent supplemental class to your regular class
2.  Powerskating Class:  Eligible skates Current Junior Club Members; Basic 5/6 through Freeskate 4 skaters are eligible.  Develop proper  edge control and body control with power.  Develop endurance.  

3. JUNIOR CLUB Bridge Program of the Southern Wisconsin Figure Skating Club (SWFSC)  will start again in September of 2017.  Eligible Skaters are non Club Members from class levels  Basic 4 - FS-6.

What to Wear
We recommend warm clothing that allows freedom
of movement, and gloves or mittens. We also require
that Snowplow Sam and Hockey skaters (ages 3-6)
wear helmets (bike or hockey) . For all classes, please
allow at least 15 minutes to put on your child's skates.
A basic skate of quality is highly recommended!  Purchase at a shop that caters to skats,  Crossovers Pro shop at Madison Ice Arena,  the Waunakee Ice Arena has a 6 month rental program or purchase used or new skates of the quality we recommend at affordable prices.
 
Class Schedule/Structure/Fees
 
Summer Session:  Mondays 5:45-6:45 PM is the On - ice time.  Arrive at 5:15 PM.  June 12 through August 14.  10 weeks for the price of 8 weeks, calculated on the cost of one class of $15.00.  1/2 hour classes plus 1.2 hour of practice ice OR you may elect to take a second class at 1/2 price.  
 
*Basic Skills, Snowplow Sam, Adult, Teen, Hockey, and
Freeskate Levels: 30 min class + 30 min practice time or an additional 30 minute 1/2 hour advancement class at 1/2 price.

Please register early as classes may fill. Once registered, there
are NO REFUNDS! Registrations received after the deadline are automatically charged a late registration fee of $15.00.
 
Advancement Classes:
Accelerated: basic 3 through Basic 5 skaters are eligible.
Power class for Basic5/6 through Freeskate 2-4.  
 
CLASS STRUCTURE
*Snowplow Sam (3-6 year olds)
*Basic 1-6 (7 years and older)
*Pre Freestyle and Freeskate 1-6 (must have passed Basic 6)
*Adult 1-6 (18 and older)
*Teen Basic 1-6 (13 and older)
*Hockey1-4 (no age requirement)
*Power Skating for figure Skaters (Pre-freeskate through Freeskate 4);
Powerskating Class that is offered on the SWFSC "contract Ice"; must have passed pre-preliminary MIF or consent of Instructor. 
Power Skating for Hockey Players (must have passed Hockey 4)  This is conducted as a "Clinic" only for hockey players.

PARENTS CAN SKATE FOR FREE WITH THEIR CHILD DURING THE 30 MINUTES OF PRACTICE TIME. PARENTS MUST BE IN SKATES AND MUST SIGN THE WAIVER.  
NO SHOES ALLOWED.
 
Anyone under 18 who is not enrolled may NOT be on the ice at any time unless they have a sibling practice pass. See
details on the back panel under Sibling Practice Pass.

PRIVATE INSTRUCTION AVAILABLE
Private instruction is a great way to enhance your learning experience and can help you progress at a faster rate! Several
of our instructors are available for private or semi-private lessons outside of class time. Skaters may have private lessons on any SWFSC free style sessions.   For a list of available ice time, please check out the club web site:  www.swfsc.org. go to the tab on the left hand side of home page and click onto contract ice.  
 
Accelerated and power classes as well as participation in the Junior Club are fun ways to advance in this wonderful work of figure skating!
